Video Transcript for Superwinch LT2000 ATV Winch Spec Review

Today we're going to review part number 1120210. This is the super winch LT2000 ATV winch. Has a 2,000 pound weight capacity. This is a compact, quiet, all-purpose, entry level winch. It's very powerful, versatile, and easy to use. This can be permanently mounted, or it can be used as a portable winch, with the optional quick-connect wiring and mounting kits, that we sell separately on the our website.

This part will include everything shown here; includes the winch, solenoid and circuit breakers, and all the battery wiring. Includes this rocker switch, includes the roller fair-lead, that the cable will run through. Includes the hook on the cable, and includes this pulley with the hook, and a D-shackle connect-it, and all the mounting hardware that's needed. The roller fair-lead will require a mount kit, that we sell separately on our website. It's listed on this product page as a related product.

It's part number SW87-42616. Now this winch will power the load in and out. Right over here is a knob that if you pull this knob out and turn it to hold it out, it will allow this clutch to free-spool. Gives you a faster wind wire rope payout. When you're done, you just click it back in and you're ready to power it. The motor is a high efficiency, low amp-draw motor.

It does use a full-metal planetary gear. It includes, I mentioned, the sealed handlebar-mounted rocker switch, to control it. It does use a dynamic break, and it circuit breaker protected. A few specs on this, on the winch, is a rated line pull of a single line of 2,000 pounds. The motor is a 1 horsepower motor. The gearing is a differential planetary gearing.

The gear ratio on it is 153:1. Again, I mention the free-spooling clutch, which is a pull and turn, to put it in the free spool. Dynamic breaking. The wire rope that's included with this is a 5/32 diameter, by 49 feet long. It does come with the latched hook, and the handle strap to hold on to. The switching method is a protected relay. To give you the idea of the size of this, it's a pretty small winch. Overall length from edge to very edge, is going to be right at 11 inches. The height, is right at 4 inches. The depth of it is also right at about 4 inches. Now just one warning on this. I do want to let you know that this is a wire cable that's included. Synthetic rope cannot be used on this ATV winch. Or actually any ATV winch that uses an aluminum drum. This does use an aluminum drum. Synthetic rope can only be used on winches that have a steel drum. This comes with the wire cable, and is made just to use wire cable. That should do it for the review on part number 1120210. This is the super winch LT2000 ATV winch, at a 2,000 pound capacity. .

    • Recommended Electric Winch for Raising and Lowering a Pop Up Camper
If you're going to use a winch to raise and lower your popup you will want a winch that power loads both in and out. With a winch that will only power load in you will only be able to raise the popup and not lower with the winch. We have the Superwinch LT2000 # 1120210 that will load both in and out.

    • Recommended Battery to Power an Electric Winch
You will need a 12 volt battery that is rated for more than 55 amps to power your electric winch. Any battery that meets those requirements should work well for you. For most winches that usually means a car battery. I have included a link to the right with tips on wiring an electric winch. If you need a good battery charger that will not over charge the battery and will also help recondition and extend the life of the battery I recommend CTEK charger # CTEK56353. I won this charger and...

Provided that the battery can handle the 100 amp power draw at 12 volts then you can use it to power the Superwinch LT2000 # 1120210. The wiring and fuses used for a 12 volt outlet such as a cigarette lighter are not rated high enough for the power requirements of this winch. I have linked a help article on wiring an electric winch for you.

    • Where Does The Red Rocker Switch Wire Attach To When Installing SuperWinch LT2000?
When installing the Superwinch LT2000 ATV Winch # 1120210 on atv's or offroad vehicles, the red wire on the rocker switch typically connects to a wire that gets power only when the ignition switch is turned on. When using this winch on a trailer or other application that does not have an ignition switch, you can just run it to the positive terminal on the battery that it is connected to and install a toggle switch in between so that you can switch the winch on and off, then actually control...

    • Should Winch Be Hooked Up To Battery With Threaded Terminals Or Alligator Clips?
Hey Ken, that doesn't sound good, but I think you're on the right track. Winches, such as the Bulldog Winch Utility Winch 2,000 lbs # BDW15008 or Superwinch LT2000 ATV Winch 2,000 lbs # 1120210, typically need to be installed onto the threaded terminal with nuts to keep it completely tight and free of much resistance. The alligator style clips are probably what is causing your hot wire issue. This is typically an "okay" method for temporary use, but not good for long term as you're finding...

For the Superwinch LT2000 ATV Winch # 1120210 we currently sell that winch kitted with the upgraded switch kit. This switch kit would attach to the handle bars on your ATV that you were using the winch on. If you are talking about the hand held remote for the Superwinch LT2000, it is no longer available from the manufacturer. If you want to replace the entire winch system, then the Superwinch LT2000 ATV Winch - Wire Rope - Roller Fairlead - 2,000 lbs # 1120210 can be made to work with more than enough capacity to lift utilizing the pully system on your trailer.

To operate a DC powered winch such as # 1120210 that is not installed on a vehicle you will need a 12 volt battery with a high enough amp hour rating for the draw of the winch under load. Superwinch LT2000 Electric Utility Winch # 1120210 draws 100 amps when used at it's capacity of 2,000 lbs. With zero line pull it draws 10 amps. • Electric Winch with Load-Holding Brake to Lift, Hold, and Lower a Popup Camper Roof
The dynamic brake on the Superwinch LT2000 winch # 1120210 is not meant to hold a load indefinitely so it would not really be the best option for you. I recommend a winch that has mechanical braking. Or you could use a worm gear winch which has a natural brake when the drum is not turning. But electric worm gear winches can be pricey. For a less costly winch that has a load-holding brake I recommend the Superwinch LT3000 winch, # SW1130220. It is a step up from the LT2000.

Unfortunately we don't currently offer much when it comes to pop-up camper lifts besides just a standard winch like the Superwinch LT2000 ATV Winch # 1120210 you were looking at. You could try checking with a local RV dealer to see if they have a replacement, but if you end up having to go with a standard winch then you'll just need to make sure that it loads both in and out so you can raise and lower the roof, like the # 1120210 does.

If the Superwinch LT2000 ATV Winch part # 1120210 that you have attached to your pop up camper is bending the original brackets that your pop up was equipped with I recommend taking it to a local welding shop and having new and additional bracing welded in place. This will eliminate the issue you are running into with your current set up.

The SuperWinch LT2000 Electric Utility Winch, part # 1120210, you have referenced will only have a rated line pull of 2,000 lbs. The rated line pull of 2,000 lbs. will pull a rolling load of 10,050 lbs. up a 6 degree incline, but as the incline increases, the rolling load capacity will decrease.
